My New Journey!
Initially, there were concerns due to winter storm warnings in the area. The roads were in pretty bad shape, and I found myself traveling through the ruts in snow several inches deep. At one on-ramp, trucks were stuck blocking the road, requiring me to continue to the next exit and turning around so that I could approach the exchange from the other direction. Quite challenging, but I love honing my adverse weather driving skills!
Others were not so fortunate. After crossing into Indiana on their Toll Road, I watch in my rear view mirror as a car fishtailed, then ran right into an overpass guardrail. Cars behind this vehicle immediately lost control trying to avoid the crashing vehicle, and they kicked you so much snow I could no longer see the traffic. They must have blocked the road, since for many miles I did not see and any other cars behind me except for one that had passed through before this incident!
After arriving in Chicago and finding the beginning of Route 66, I settled in for what I had hoped would be another nice journey. I would soon learn how nice it would be!
